Quick rune word question

Well i was wondering, if this helm http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u45/rmcin329/nicehornedhelm.jpg can be used to create a rune word? Its grey named but also has a magical bonus to battle orders. Wasn't sure if the battle orders thing made it useless for a rune word or not. Anyway thanks in advance for answers.|||Hey, Rmcin329! I don't think I've seen you around lately.

Q u o t e:
Rune Words will only work in Socketed non-magical items. This means that Set Items, Unique Items, or Magic Items with enough Sockets and the proper item type will not allow or convert to Rune Words. Again, they will not work on Magic, Set, Unique or Rare items. So if you have a Mechanic's (or Jewelers item) piece of armor with 2 slots, the Stealth will not work on it because it's magical.

Magical Items are blue and have a prefix and/or suffix. My guess is, yes, you can craft a Rune Word in the Helm you've indicated. I craft Harmony Matriarchal Bows for my Strafezon all the time. They get all the procs from the Rune Word and retain the +1 to Bow and Crossbow Skills as well.

Yes. Even without needing to view the helm, any gray-lettered item (in fact only gray-lettered items) that have sockets or can be given sockets can be made into runewords, and they get to keep the automods that came with them, if any. This is why some classes benefit from making runewords in their own class-specific items. [Edit: of course, one-socket items are excluded from this possibility since no item that has sockets can be given more sockets and any runeword by definition requires more than one rune socket.]
Have you seen this runeword tool?

It is pretty handy for seeing what can be made using what items, runes, etc. There's an update in the works that will also let you browse by specific mods or mod groups, but that feature is not yet available. Yes, it's mine, I wrote it, and I give it away for free. It's perfectly safe and legitimate, so feel free to grab it if you're interested.
