Ofcourse make these 'flags' time out after so long, but if X account/ip gets equal or more to Y flags, account/ip ban.
Wild suggestions : 50 flags? A timeout of a week?
If someone other than a bot gets flagged too many times... well they deserve it.
Discuss|||I would guess the info that would be required to generate this 'flag packet' would be the senders acct info/cdkey/ip info/date etc to avoid spoofing these flag packets.
Only 1 flag per account towards any one account allowed.|||Pretty sure the only way to get rid of spam bots is to wait for D3. We're lucky they came out with a patch, there's no chance they're going to spend a bunch of hours to fix this problem. Sucks but thats the way it is.
Hopefully D3 will solve this with 1 acct per key and easier reporting options / spam monitoring.|||
Q u o t e:
Steathbot is an allowed program that enables players (or bots) to access the Battle.net chat server using a seperate chat program. So you can report and ban all day, but the reason why Blizzard can't put a dent in the issue is because those people just sign in with different screen names and they are back in business.
Try whispering one: it will tell you that they cannot be found. That is because the character doesn't exist, only the Stealthbot.
thats not exactly true.... The reason when you squelch a user in game using the button to ignore the bots and it comes back user doesnt exsist is due to the fact those bots never entered chat. This is a bug blizzard has known about but as well as a HUGE growing list of other bugs that have all been there since the start of d2 have yet to be fixed because blizz finds no reason to fix something everyones trying to break. As long as people are trying to exploit the servers and programs i see no fixes coming in the near future either. There are two issues with bnet that would totally elimate posts like this. One players exploiting/botting/h
1-2 weeks and access to a ban command i could ban more bots than blizz has since d2 started. maybe they should hire me :P
