Diablo 1 Speedun in 3min 9 sec!real or cheat?

[:1]Hello, i saw this youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wd4xOI6lBJw
after 3min and 9 sec he was finish with the game
Got he only lucky? or is there a cheat?|||With the right spawn-code those maps and drops can be generated as shown. Overall it looks like an amazing speedrun but the player cheated at least twice starting at 1:57.
In Caves the unique staff Naj's Puzzler was dropped. In D1 spell charges on unique staffs can be used without identifying the item so using the Puzzler's charges was fine. BUT back in town the Puzzler was duped twice after it got IDed by Cain. Those dupes were then sold to Adria for the fonds needed to buy the big mana pots, the scrolls of Identify, Mana Shield, Stone Curse and the Book of Fireball. Duping and shoping speed indicate that at least some scripts or another cheat were used.

There are cheats for the game, but there are some people that can run through it very quickly with a lot of experience.

Dupes are cheats. No experience required.|||look in the diablo 3 forum.. there are no cheats|||

Well if dupes aren't cheats your initial question "or is there a cheat" is pointless.
EDIT
Check http://speeddemosarchive.com/Diablo.html and you know what he did and how.|||

I was referring to item editing programs. I even had some.
~Hazzar|||Guys why you write here so much ##%*?
That is Groobo and he would never use cheats.
This video is played by patch 1.0.0 and there is no cheat.
he only used some bugs.

and here you have a statement form the player:
Yeah, it's me again. Once more I'm here to cut down the time almost in half and it's due to even more luck manipulation, even more glitches, and even more sexiness. The most important thing is that I manipulated Naj's Puzzler to drop from the earliest monster possible. This item gives you some teleport charges and it's requirement-free. Second thing is the negative health glitch (note that this was fixed with the 1.07 patch). If your health turns negative when you're protected by the mana shield spell (which can be done with equipping a -life item) you won't die, you'll become invincible instead. There are pretty much two down sides to this: you won't be getting any exp points for any monsters killed because you're technically dead, and if you forget to make your health positive again before either entering a portal or using the stairs you'll end up dead (because going to another level removes your mana shield and then the game actually pays attention to your health). Then there's the duplication glitch which was already featured in my previous work. You can copy any item at the cost of any potion or scroll. What you need to do is to drop the item you want to "dupe" on the ground and walk away from it, then you click on the item and when you're just about to pick it up you click on any item on your belt. You'll end up with the item you just picked up in your inventory and you'll be holding an exact same copy of that item at the same time. One more thing that will probably confuse you (or not at all since it was also in the previous run) is what happens when I meet Lazarus. Normally a cutscene should take place following a lengthy speech. Well, the first one is skipped by alt-tabbing to windows (when alt-tabbing back to the game you can't see ##%* and you can't really tell when you can already move the cursor so better appreciate that the delay wasn't that big), the latter is skipped by simply saving and loading the game. Last thing to note is that I did extensive research on every aspect of the game important in a speedrun (with the help of a couple of guides), the RNG and how to manipulate it, how the game calculates damage done, what monster drops what and appears where, and so on. So keep that in mind and remember that I really busted my balls to get this done, so you better #@@%ing enjoy it.

So you should cheer for this video.|||

I don't care who he is. Duping is cheating, no matter what means are used to do it.
Edit
A comment on Groobo's statement:

Q u o t e:
The most important thing is that I manipulated Naj's Puzzler to drop from the earliest monster possible.

A drop manipulation in D1 Single Player boils down to a map manipulation because all drops on a map are pre-defined on generation. The only legal map manipulation is to start a new single player game and this resets both all dungeon maps and your character is send back to town.
How rare is the possibility to have a dungeon with all stairs from 1 to 15 beside each other and the first monster encountered - a Lava Lord - is capable of droping Naj's Puzzler plus does so? Add in the other item drops - Thinking Cap from Lazarus and Raven/Vulture ring from church sarcophagus - and the possibility for all this to happen in a single game closes in to infinite.
|||Nevertheless let's push aside the question if cheats were used or not.
There is a sign this video is a fake.
At 0:54 Groobo picks up a ring from a sarcophagus on Church lvl 4. This ring is used later on to pull off the god mode glitch.
At 1:21 we see the inventory for the 1st time in Caves lvl 9. There the initial staff is dumped to equip the unided Naj's Puzzler. Check the inventory: there is no ring!
At 1:44 back in town Groobo opens the inventory the 2nd time and drops a ring to the ground.
Explain how this ring made it into the inventory past 1:21. Can you?
EDIT
Found another tiny sign that something is not right with this run.
At 1:22 we can catch a glimpse on the unided Puzzler's stats. The third line reads Charges: 23 / 57. This is correct and Jarulf's Guide confirms this: Naj's Puzzler always drops with 23 of 57 charges of Teleport.
Now Groobo uses 6 charges to get from floor 9 to 15. Next he uses 2 charges to reach the vile stand, raises his tp and grabs Lazarus staff while he walks into the portal. In town at 1:51 Groobo hovers the mouse over the spell button which reads 14 charges on the last line. BUT when we recalculate things there should be 23 - 8 = 15 charges left on the Puzzler.
Where did Groobo use that 9th charge of Teleport?|||Excellent investigative report, Dr.
As for your points and questions, you can be assured that Hazzar will respond with an answer. It will be carefully crafted to appear on-topic and relevant so that he can't be accused of trolling or spamming, but this is his forum, and he will have the last word.

Haha, so true. I was actually answering questions a while ago, but now I just do it for fun, lmao. At least we are discussing ;)
~Hazzar|||Indeed. What's the world coming to when even hell is going to hell?
|||That is Groobo! there is no cheat or something!
he play just like a god!|||So... exploits and bugs isn't cheating...
I can also make a Brood War speed run using 'there is no cow level'
