Crafting made simple

[:1]The purpose of this guide is to find the most suitable character level for crafting specific items, instead of leveling your char to lvl 95 (which apparently is [sarcasm]"the best level for crafting"[/sarcasm])

Contents:
1) FAQ
2) Items (amulets, rings, gloves, boots, belts, axes, Amazon javelins)
3) Recipes for listed items

Big thanks to people who helped me do this with their resourses and insight (adeyke, fumbleweed, RTB, to name just a few)
This is a copy of my thread on AB forums.

A small FAQ first.
Q: So you finally decided to help people instead of telling them that they are noobs and shouldn't be crafting in the first place?
A: Yes, but as someone wise said, to get an answer you have to ask correct questions. This guide will help ask good questions.
Q: OMG I'm lvl xx wot itam should I craft lol?
A: Absolutely none. Stay away from crafting untill you know what you want to craft. Reading this guide will help.
Q: I'm level 70+, is it enough to craft xx item?
A: Probably yes. As a matter of fact it is possible that you could have gotten away with it at a lower level. This guide is definitely for you :)
Q: You often advise to have a pair of characters to craft, why is that?
A: It is better to have a low level character to craft items that were shopped by a high level one. With some items, however, there is an ideal character level, which can be used both for shopping and crafting, but this char would be harder to level and harder to shop certain items :)
Q: Why not just shopping and crafting with my highest level character?
A: If you do it my way, you won't get those rather godly gloves, which however require lvl 94+ character to play because they have some crappy Poison Nova charges (or worse). Usually you can have all the useful mods, while keeping crappy ones (like charges) out of the item. If you're serious about crafting, you shouldn't just burn the runes.
Q: Is shopping and gambling the same?
A: No. Shopping gives you items with specific ilvl (usually clvl +5). Gambling gives you unpredictable ilvl (always "clvl -5" to "clvl +4"). For the purposes of this guide, I will explicitly say which items can be safely gambled (as I take it into consideration on most occasions). You can gamble instead of shopping if you wish so, but in this case the results may vary from what I calculated. This may or may not result in a craft that you did or didn't want.
Q: Why can't I craft the stuff I find from monsters?
A: You can, but usually it's easier and more accurate to gamble/shop. It will pay off, trust me ;)
Q: What if I want specific lvl requirements (e.g. for lld)?
A: In that case this guide is not for you. You can post here the details of your desired item (lvl requirement, mods) and I'll give you a hand when I have the time.
Q: How do I use this guide?
A: This guide is along the lines of "Open can, eat beans". Look up the item that you want to craft, and just get the characters with levels I recommend if you're too bored to do the number crunching.
Q: Who died and made you king of crafting? And how do you get the numbers?
A: Well, the affix formula is not a secret. The required info is also very public. You could come to the same conclusions if you bothered to do some research. If you're having doubts about the numbers, just ask ;).
Q: Why not all the items are in here?
A: Because it took me too many hours as it is. I list only the most usual items. I'm sure I'm one of the few people who wasted Sol runes to craft javelins, for example. If you want something not listed, just ask for it.
~~~~~~
Note #1: If you use any of the formulas below, never round down the results. For example, if you get (77/2)=38.5 use the 38.5 for the calculation.
Note #2: If you insist on using monster drops instead of shopping/gambling, just replace the (your shopper level + 5) part with the level of the monster that dropped the item.|||
To get it stickied.|||on gambling the amulet, I feel you should transmute any amulet in cube with 3 pgems to get one, and so with all items you want to craft, prefereably exceptional, or if you can find, elite.
I hope that small aid helped anyone.|||Hiya Pr! Long time no seen!
Since you are soooooo very inactive on jsp, I'm going to take my chances and post here instead of PMing you.
I need some help (MLD help :D).
Here's the deal: I want to craft a blood belt, Mesh prefered, and it has to have a level req of 49 or lower. I want to catch the "Colossus +41-60 to Life" mod. None other needed, just that one (aiming on getting 10 OW / 80 hp belt).
What level should I gamble with and what level should I craft with to catch as little mods as possible but still being able to get "Colossus" suffix?
NOTE: Even if you aren't Pr, but know the answer, please do reply :-)
Thanks,
Q u o t e:
Heh not much to do on jsp, those folks post more crap than I can laugh at in reasonable time :)
Mesh belt is indeed the best for that, and it can be easily shopped in hell. Gambling is far less predictable ;)
For best odds, you'll need item level 71 (will get affix level 50). Use the formula:
(your shopper level + 5)/2 + (your crafter level)/2 = 71.5
For example, shop with level 90 and craft with level 48. These will require level 43 or less to use.
You can limit the affixes a little bit more, making sure that nothing above Colossus will spawn. However the item level will be less than 71, so the belt will not always get 4 mods. This gives you worse odds for Colossus, because you'll get less mods per craft.
If you insist, you'll need item level 51(will get affix level 30). Use the formula:
(your shopper level + 5)/2 + (your crafter level)/2 = 51.5
For example, shop with level 90 and craft with level 8. These will require level 25 to use.
If you intend to shop with level 95+ character, replace the "your shopper level + 5" with 99 :)
Heh, I see :)
Oh, thanks a lot, you little scammah! That's going to help me a lot, thanks! :]
